Description
Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.
The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.
In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever.

Guardian enforcers sworn to protect humanity, and Darkbloods, rogues who kill like their ancient ancestors….
He might be known for his effortless charm, but Guardian Jackson Foss is hiding a terrible secret. For months, he has battled the emergence of his dark nature—deadly urges that threaten to consume him. And those cravings only intensify when he meets Arianna Wells, the human he's been assigned to protect. Smart and perceptive, Arianna doesn't seem like a dangerous temptress. Yet she awakens in Jackson an unstoppable need that, if left unchecked, will brand him a traitor…a crime punishable by death.
But soon their bond may be Arianna's only hope. For stalking her in the shadows is a merciless enemy—one who will stop at nothing to claim her completely….

Avis
Un nouvel avis de ATUF, d'une série qu'on a déjà vu passée dans ce rendez-vous. Attention, ce n'est pas le tome 1 :
Suddenly, being bitten by a werewolf is the least of Joanne Walker’s problems.
Her personal life in turmoil, her job as a cop over, she’s been called to Ireland by the magic within her. And though Joanne’s skills have grown by leaps and bounds, Ireland’s magic is old and very powerful…
In fact, this is a case of unfinished business. Because the woman Joanne has come to Ireland to rescue is the
woman who sacrificed everything for Joanne—the woman who died a year ago. Now, through a slip in time, she’s in thrall to a dark power and Joanne must battle darkness, time and the gods themselves to save her.

Avis Dystopie !
Chez ATUF, encore, une critique d'un livre à paraître. Une Dystopie qui semble beaucoup plaire. Affaire à suivre !
*This title will be released on February 28, 2012*
Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them--connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.
Dan Wells, acclaimed author of "I Am Not a Serial Killer," takes readers on a pulsepounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question--one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.
Le prochain titre Failsafe sera publié en 2013.

| Description: Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally. Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t. Like the fire that killed his parents. Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he’s not doing it. More than Gabriel’s pride is at stake -- this could cost him his family, maybe his life. And no one seems to hear him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own. Gabriel can’t let her guess about his brothers, about his abilities, about the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking. The fuse is lit… N/A No Author Comment Available. |

Continuing the tradition of proud, 80’s manhood. I like how the colors match the main characters’ powers and each guy gets his moment in the spot light. | Loving these covers. Julia was dead on about The Outsiders vibe. |

| Description: N/A “Here is a nice big version of the stunning cover on the Science Fiction Book Club's Omnibus edition of the Parasol Protectorate Vol 2. This edition is only available to club members (although sometimes they show up online for sale later) and is a hardback limited run containing the final two books in the series, Heartless and Timeless. It should be coming out in the USA right about the same time as Timeless. |

Alexia looks a little more stern in this one, but another elegant, Victorian cover. | I love omnibus covers in general, but the ones for this series have been especially good. Love that they have created a distinct but still very recognizable look. I'm still a fan of the Orbit covers, but I actually think the background is better integrated on the omnibus cover. |

Description
The
human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials--engineered
organic beings identical to humans--has decimated the population.
Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which
only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America
have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have
mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent,
but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade.
Our time is running out.

Wicked Scribes :
